Tour Program Specialist

Summary

The Tour Program Specialist is responsible for execution of administrative tasks related to the delivery of services aimed to increase associate engagement, recruitment, and retention.

Essential Job Functions

The essential functions described below are intended to broadly define the expectations of the role. 

  • Development and coordination of all SIA tours for suppliers, local groups, college/university programs, and the public
  • Designs and maintains tour routes and information shared during tour
  • Leads coordination of any special requests related to the tour (i.e., speakers, lunch, etc.)
  • Ensures that all safety and security protocol is followed
  • Arranges for a visit to the TeamWear Store
  • Coordinates all Discover Lab activities (coordinating other tour personnel to assist with labs, operating and troubleshooting the equipment in the lab, etc.)
  • Oversees retiree volunteer Associates who assist with running stations during tours
  • Collaborates with InMac and Purdue on data from the tours and coordinating Manufacturing Events with the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce
  • Develops tracking and reporting on tour progress
  • Able to interact with guests ages 10 and up, school groups, public guests, customers, VIP groups, businesses, and all levels within our company daily. 
  • Treat tour guests with authenticity, kindness, and friendliness.  Be engaging, helpful, and willing to offer an incredible experience. 
  • Be available and provide timely responses in all capacities.
  • Ability to memorize and recite facts clearly and accurately.

Required Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Hospitality Management and Tourism, Business Administration, Human Resources, or other related field of study or 1 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Significant work in customer service.
  • Experience with public speaking.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.

 

Preferred Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management and Tourism, Business Administration, Human Resources, or other related field of study or 3 or more years of relevant experience.

Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Good presentation, oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills to effectively interact with associates, management, internal and external business contacts; Ability to communicate with others in antagonistic situations using appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to reduce tension or conflict and maintain professionalism.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, problem-solving ability, and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures and the ability to identify, analyze and resolve business issues through solution-oriented projects.
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, handle multiple tasks with concentration speed and accuracy to meet deadlines.
  • Strong math and analytical skills to perform math calculations, interpret, adapt, known methods, system procedures or operating concepts to new situations.
  • Basic knowledge of principles (including governing laws and regulations) and procedures for the employee life cycle including recruiting, interviewing, selection, retention, performance management, rewards, and recognition, etc. and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
  • MS Office, including advanced Excel skills (VLookups, pivot tables and charts).
  • Exceptional customer service skills.

Work Hours

This role generally works administrative hours (8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday – Friday) and is subject to occasional overtime to meet demands of production, which may include 1-3 scheduled Saturdays per year and occasional daily overtime.   This role does not currently allow for remote work opportunities.
