Position Overview:

The Technical Training Specialist will assist and support the organizational employee development strategies at SIA across multiple disciplines, including production, leadership, and support associates. The Training Specialist conducts focused educational/training needs assessments within specified targeted associate populations; designs, develops, delivers, and evaluates a range of training curricula and programs within defined fields of expertise. The Training Specialist will have an advanced (applied theory) to expert (recognized authority) level of knowledge in areas of focus.

 

Outline of duties:

  • Delivers group and individual instruction and training covering a range of technical, operational, and/or management areas in a specified field.
  • Develops training curricula and/or recommends or utilizes vendor programs that meet instructional goals and objectives.
  • Formulates training outlines and determines instructional methods, utilizing knowledge of specified training needs and effectiveness of such methods as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, workshops, and other applicable methods.
  • Selects and/or develops cost and instructionally effective training aids, including training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference material.
  • Coordinates or performs administrative functions necessary to deliver and document training programs.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of training and development programs and utilizes relevant evaluation data to revise or recommend changes in instructional objectives and methods.
  • Assists in analyzing and assessing training and development needs for individuals, teams, and/or specific departments across SIA.
  • May review instructor performance and recommend improvements to program content and/or instructor presentation methods; may assist in recruiting, selecting, and training instructors.
  • May engage in train the trainer activities for associates, interns, and/or contract employees performing related work.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or certification required/Bachelor's degree preferred; minimum 5 years relevant experience.
  • Minimum of one year of training, coaching or instruction experience.
  • Experience providing training in manufacturing environment.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required OR associate degree plus 7-10 years relevant experience.
  • Minimum of one year of training, coaching or instruction experience.
  • Experience providing training in manufacturing environment.
