Summary

This role works with Supplier accounts within SIA’s Service Parts section to ensure delivery, quality, and effective relationships. They will support suppliers with any expediting, or recovery schedules, whenever needed. The Service Parts Planner supports any in-house issues with Service Parts alongside being a direct communication channel with SOA, SBR, and internal SIA Management.

 

Outline of duties:

 

  1. Work with aftermarket parts suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries, track orders, and expedite when needed
  2. Assess overall supplier capability and develop recovery plans when delivery performance or quality falls below target   
  3. Support model launch activities by ensuring supplier readiness and correct part information is available       
  4. Work with Subaru of American (SOA), Subaru Japan, and SIA quality groups to help manage any field concerns
  5. Review drawings and engineering changes related to aftermarket parts to ensure accuracy        
  6. Support in-house aftermarket requirements and special projects (metal, bumper, engine)       
  7. Address any issues with parts, packaging, lead times, logistics, and deliveries          
  8. Ensure packaging specifications meet all regulatory requirements (OSHA, Prop 65, DOT, Leaf Mark, etc.)
  9. Communicate with the Aftermarket Parts Planning section in Japan as needed including regular video conferences
  10. Make on-site supplier visits to evaluate conditions and help improve aftermarket parts processes
  11. Manage part data parameters as well as order and shipment information
  12. Help identify and develop new processes to streamline operations at suppliers and within SIA

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Associate degree and 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with automotive parts and assembly
  • Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Good communication and negotiation skills (phone/ e-mail/ group speaking)
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Ability to lead meetings both within SIA and at suppliers
  • Able to travel - day trips and several overnight trips most months
  • Some availability needed after hours for video meetings with Japan as well as coverage during weekends and shutdowns to support supplier and Subaru of America (SOA) activities

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, supply chain management, or business
  • Aftermarket parts experience
  • Ability to read drawings and technical specifications
  • Experience working with suppliers
