Position Summary:
Senior Counsel – Employment & Labor Law serves as lead for all employment-related legal matters. This role reports to the Assistant General Counsel and collaborates to solve business challenges, manage risk, and plan for SIA’s future.
Outline of duties:
- Provide legal advice and counsel in connection with federal, state, and local employment laws, wage and hour laws, immigration matters, benefit plans, and ERISA.
- Manage and support employment and labor litigation and work on special projects related to compliance and employment/labor related matters.
- Review federal and state discrimination charges and support required investigations.
- Conduct training and presentations on various employment law issues of legal significance in various forums.
- Identify legal risks and design plans to mitigate and prevent routine legal risks.
- Foster collaborative working relationships with internal business clients and executives, and the various corporate departments.
- Monitor proposed legislation and court decisions related to SIA and evaluate their potential impact on operations.
- Demonstrate superb attention to detail and the ability to provide timely legal support in a fast-paced practice environment.
- Have a high level of professionalism and outstanding business judgment requiring minimal supervision.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctor of Jurisprudence from an ABA-accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the State of Indiana
- 5-8 years of relevant legal work experience with demonstrated leadership characteristics.

Desired Qualifications:
- Proven record of in-house legal experience
- Experience in the automotive manufacturing industry.
