Position Summary:

The QC New Model Development Engineer is responsible for quality by leading and supporting in-depth process audits at suppliers or within SIA Manufacturing processes. The QCNM engineer will  review parts, assemblies, processes and completed vehicles at SIA or at other facilities. This role identifies issues and optimizes the supplier’s and / or SIA  production processes and equipment through root cause analysis to achieve the safety, quality, output, and cost goals of SIA. This role is responsible for identifying production problems and likewise identifying methods for resolution. The QCNM Engineer evaluates processes and quality, then recommends and implements changes to equipment, work methods and other aspects of production to improve quality and eliminate defects.

                               

Outline of Duties:

  • Participates in the development of new models for SIA to ensure purchased parts, SIA in-house manufacturing processes and the completed vehicle quality
  • Leading Root cause analysis with suppliers and other sections within SIA using PDCA
  • Issue engineering reports and A3 format reports
  • Interpret precision measurement data and correlate to complete vehicle concerns
  • Actively pursue new ways of analyzing data to improve quality
  • Develop and maintain list of critical product and process indicators
  • Project Management of all activities included within the scope of audits, follow up, scheduling and completion
  • Conduct process audits to ensure that process indicators are being properly tracked and maintained.
  • Lead improvement plans to validate production processes to achieve department & plant targets for both new model and current production.
  • Actively participate in cross functional teams to recommend countermeasure to resolve issues.
  • Create professional documents to record and track measurement results
  • Lead and support continuous improvement activities to improve CP/CPK
  • Ensure that best practices and methods are being used for gauging activities
  • Evaluate part structures and implement Design Change Requests to improve assembly
  • Must assure all necessary paperwork is accurate and completed on-time (RQ, ISR, and other reporting documents)
  • Must meet all objectives and tasks per assigned timing and milestone deadlines
  • Travel extensively as required to meet the needs of the new model development cycle  
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or related field, plus 1-3 years of relevant experience. 5 or more years of related automotive manufacturing experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirement.
  • Knowledge of basic statistics, project management, and process control

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • 3 or more years of experience in automotive manufacturing engineering
  • Demonstrated experience using data to solve assembly problems
  • ASQ, Six Sigma Black Belt or similar certifications
