Outline of duties:

  • Will develop new models for SIA Stamping, Injection, and Body Assembly.
  • Judge SIA stamped panels x print requirements.
  • Confirm fixtures and jigs to assure body construction accuracy.
  • Root cause analysis with PDCA thinking way.
  • Issue engineering reports and A3 format reports.
  • Interpret precision measurement data and correlate to complete vehicle concerns.
  • Actively pursue new ways of analyzing data to improve quality.
  • Develop and maintain list of critical product and process indicators.
  • Conduct process audits to ensure that process indicators are being properly tracked and maintained.
  • Lead improvement plans to validate production processes to achieve department & plant targets for both new model and current production.
  • Aid and support Body ME and Stamping ME for new model part and process validations.
  • Support and or lead Body and Stamping for root cause analysis of dimensional issues.
  • Actively participate in cross functional teams to recommend and countermeasure issues.
  • Create professional documents to record and track measurement results.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement activities to improve CP/CPK for both Body and Stamping.
  • Ensure that best practices and methods are being used for gauging activities.
  • Evaluate part structures and implement Design Change Requests to improve assembly and manufacturing for Body and Stamping.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in technical field i.e., Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or Technology and/or equivalent Dimensional Engineering experience.
  • Experience with part and tooling datum structures.
  • In depth experience with 3D data, understanding point/space relationships and the effect of vectors on measurement results.
  • Knowledge in basic statistics and process control.
  • Familiar with metrology equipment.
  • Read and understand blueprints, part, and assembly drawings.
  • Demonstrated experience using data to solve complex problems.
  • Possess strong analytical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proven experience with Plan Do Check Act method. (PDCA Cycle)
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Experience with 3D Magic, PC Dimis, Polyworks or other measurement software.
  • Experience with Catia, Solidworks or other similar 3D CAD software.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • BS in ME, MET, IT or IE along with 3 + years' experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Previous experience with 3 dimensional measurements.
  • Previous experience with CMM measuring / Portable CMM measuring.
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis.
  • Experience implementing process improvements and part or structure changes.
