Position Summary: 

The Manufacturing Engineer develops and optimizes productions processes and equipment to achieve the safety, quality, output, and cost goals of the organization. Collects production data and applies engineering principles, scientific and statistical methods to analyze, document, and diagram production processes. A manufacturing engineer is responsible for identifying production problems and likewise identifying methods for resolution. They recommend and implement changes to equipment, work methods and other aspects of production to improve the utilization of all relevant resources.

 

Outline of Duties:

  • Process modification and planning: Experience in reviewing product changes to determine required process or equipment modifications. Experience designing production processes to meet safety, quality, cost, & delivery targets. Investigate process bottlenecks to develop and implement solutions that increase throughput. Design AutoCAD layout for new cells or cell modifications.
  • Experience with staffing level and standard work studies.
  • Demonstrated analytical data-based problem-solving skills.
  • Mechanical Design: Ability to read and understand product and equipment mechanical design drawings and dimensions.                                                                                                                                                    
  • Project Management: Demonstrated development and control of project master schedules and budgets. Experience writing project specifications and instructions. Experience managing vendor/team activities during design, fabrications, installation, and integration.                                                                                                                                                            
  • Communication/Leadership: Good overall written/oral communication skills, ability to summarize complex technical concepts in written and verbal content. Ability to lead groups/teams to complete complex projects and activities.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree plus 1 - 3 years relevant experience or 5 - 7 years relevant experience
    • Engineering Technology or Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5 years’ experience in a high volume automotive Industrial manufacturing environment. Body assembly experience is a plus.
  • BS Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, BS Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology, BS Industrial Engineering, BS Industrial Engineering Technology degree or a related field
