Process Engineer

 

Summary

The Process Engineer develops and optimizes production processes and equipment to achieve the safety, quality, output, and cost goals of the organization. Collects production data and applies scientific and statistical methods to analyze, document, and diagram production processes. A process engineer is responsible for identifying production problems and likewise identifying methods for resolution. They recommend and implement changes to equipment, work methods, and other aspects of production to improve the utilization of all relevant resources. 

 

 

Essential Job Functions

The essential functions described below are intended to broadly define the expectations of the role.

 

 

  1. Studies impact of line speed changes on staffing, processes & quality control
  2. Analyzes process efficiency, recommends, designs, and implements continuous improvement and headcount reduction kaizen.
  3. Evaluates powertrain components for ease of installation and finished powertrain quality.
  4. Studies new and existing powertrain components for cost reduction & continuous improvement ideas
  5. Coordinate part investigation trials to determine part changes impact to existing assembly line.
  6. Support model development activity to evaluate process challenges and installation concerns.
  7. Documents test results, using cameras, spreadsheets, documents, or other tools.
  8. Bulk material cost & waste analysis
  9. Scrap materials cost and waste analysis
  10. Jig replacement & test bench harness ordering for normal production wear
  11. Analyze downtime information for high frequency processes, studies and recommends kaizens for OPR improvement.
  12. Review process-related safety concerns for counter-measure potential.
  13. Assist in Staffing Coordination.
  14. SBR best practice coordination
  15. All other duties as assigned.

 

 

Required Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education

 

Preferred Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field plus 5 years of relevant experience
    • Experience with PLC programming
