Summary

The New Model Development Analyst manages the ordering of new model parts and bulk material.  This involves the movement of materials end to end while identifying underperforming areas in the supply chain. Continuously reviews and assesses available material for each individual pilot event and for bulk material.  Calculates sources of problems to develop suggestions for solutions. Identifies performance deficiencies, compliance concerns, and areas for improvement in the supply chain to support root cause analysis and formulate actionable solutions with the supply base to maintain positive results. Designs and organizes reports to provide relative data to all stakeholders and may assist in the negotiation of contract arrangements. This position has a direct impact on both pilot production and mass production results and is essential to the overall financial strength to Subaru and its supplier base.

Essential Job Functions

The essential functions described below are intended to broadly define the expectations of the role.

  1. Assess and oversee supply chain issues concerning future models and bulk material.
  2. Analyze complex data and develop insights optimizing supply chain capabilities.
  3. Analyze supply impacts to future pilot events, as well as bulk material.  Develops countermeasures and communicates the concerns, decisions, and results of the decision to the appropriate stakeholders.
  4. Identify demand pattern gaps for bulk material and adjust ordering parameters to achieve positive results.
  5. Maintain and develop supplier standards that enhance the capabilities and production/financial results for both SIA and the supply base.
  6. Assess supplier’s performance based off SIA standards for discrepancies and improvement opportunities that can directly impact production and new model launch.
  7. Provide training material to new suppliers in order to improve understanding of SIA systems.  Follow up directly with suppliers through onsite auditing and coaching to ensure a positive outcome for both SIA and the supply base.
  8. Maintain adequate inventory levels to meet demands for each pilot event and for production bulk material.
  9. Manage changepoints in forecast, production modifications, and supply chain disruptions while championing continuous improvement.
  10. Assess new bulk material changeover activity as needed.
  11. All other duties as assigned by the Manager or Group Leader.

Required Education, Experience and Qualifications

 

  • Associate Degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field plus 1 – 3 years of relevant experience, or verifiable experience in a supply chain/manufacturing environment for 5+ years
  • Experience in end-to-end supply chain operations, including supplier management, internal and external logistics, inventory control, and component parts management.
  • Demonstrated ability to fulfill the above operational responsibilities, ensure the deliverables and achieve business objectives.
  • Highly motivated, articulate, detail oriented, with a well-developed emotional intelligence
  • Demonstrated ability to make critical decisions independently which supports the department’s responsibilities and goals.

 

Preferred Education, Experience and Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or related field, or 5+ years relevant experience.

Skills and Knowledge Required

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional open office environment subject to frequent interruptions and distractions. Required to work in an industrial manufacturing setting that will include moving and/or assembly lines. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. The role frequently collaborates with colleagues, internal customers/Associates, external contractors, and management.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is required to be at work as scheduled consistently and dependably, communicate. Work Hours

This position generally works in alignment with production hours and is subject to overtime to meet demands of production, which may include scheduled weekends, shutdowns, and daily overtime to meet department goals and deadlines. This position does not currently allow for remote work opportunities.

Travel

This position requires minimal travel. Occasional travel may be required mainly for off-site training or business collaboration purposes including potential overseas travel.
