Outline of duties:


The Model Change Engineer helps ensure that the Manufacturing Engineering department is conducting the planning, budgeting, and implementation of those activities necessary to prepare the facilities and processes to launch each new model on time. The incumbent is responsible for conducting internal business analysis, scope of work, and supporting the optimization of processes.


Primary responsibilities:

  • Actively pursues new ways of analyzing and communicating data to improve model development.
  • Supports and/or leads Manufacturing Engineering Model Change in root cause analysis of any safety, quality, cost, or delivery concerns across multiple sections.
  • Conduct audits to ensure that KPIs are being properly tracked and maintained when requested.
  • Coordinate with internal Project Planning Management (PPM) group for activities related to the ME department.
  • Coordinates and supports Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, PPM, and Procurement in New Model process implementations as needed.
  • Facilitates Manufacturing Engineering improvement plans to validate production processes to achieve department & plant targets for both new model and current production.
  • Participates in cross-functional teams to recommend and coordinate countermeasure model change issues.
  • Creates professional documents to record and track measurement results.
  • Initiate, evaluate, and create reports for all of Manufacturing Engineering for various events and reporting activities.
  • Facilitates development and control of project master schedules.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
  • 5 years relevant experience
  • Must be a self-motivated individual with high initiative
  • Ability to manage projects from start to finish
  • Ability to use data to drive activity, productivity, and cost
  • Ability to work closely within a team setting


Preferred Qualifications:


  • 7+ years relevant experience
  • Experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
