Position Summary:
The Mobile Robot Technician serves as their respective group/section’s point of contact an expert on mobile robots within their area of responsibility. They are expected to lead and conduct preventative maintenance on these units as well as perform any necessary, programming, teaching, and troubleshooting. The Mobile Robot Technician will also frequently collaborate with Shop Management, Maintenance, and Engineering on any facility and equipment repairs and/or upgrades related to their line and mobile robots.
Definitions: AMR: Autonomous Mobile Robot
AGV: Automated Guide Vehicle
- Conduct routine service, diagnostics, and maintenance on AMRs/AGVs to ensure uptime and performance.
- Responsible for supporting/correcting AMR/AGV breakdowns and service calls.
- Troubleshoot AGV/AMR related mechanical, electrical, and software related issuing using diagnostic tools and logs.
- Communicate issues to Maintenance and AMR/AGV Vendor Support for resolutions/repairs if necessary.
- Perform necessary robot setting changes to AMR/AGV control equipment to support model/line changes.
- Be the initial contact for production regarding AMR/AGV related concerns or questions.
- Document all service activities. This will include diagnostics, resolutions, and parts usage.
- Support and communicate with manufacturing engineering on new AMR/AGV projects.
- Participate with engineers in new AMR/AGV project development and buyoff.
- Lead with a Kaizen mindset by recommending improvements to AMR/AGV processes and procedures.
- Assist with training associates on interacting with AMR/AGVs in their work areas.
- Work alongside a team to complete manufacturing processes towards the final assembly of Subaru vehicles.
- Participate in Safety, Environmental, and Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) activities.
- All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma (or GED)
- Have a basic understanding of internal logistics processes and systems in an automotive manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Basic computer literacy to perform diagnostics and complete service reporting
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Desired Qualifications:
- 3+ Years of experience working with robotics within a manufacturing setting.
- Basic programming and/or Robot Teaching experience
