Company Overview: Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. or “SIA”, located in Lafayette, Indiana, is the only Subaru vehicle manufacturing facility outside of Japan. SIA is a 4.4 million square foot automotive OEM – meaning our manufacturing process begins with coils of steel and ends with the high-quality vehicles you see out on the roads. Outline of duties:

  • Process modifications and planning (new model development)
  • Review product changes to determine process and equipment changes required.
  • Investigate product quality changes as well as facility changes needed related to new model development.
  • Design (new model development)
  • Experience with design of production tooling and fixtures through 3D modeling
  • Firm understanding of most fabrication methods required to create production prototype tooling and fixtures.
  • Quality Improvement (new model development)
  • Understanding of basic measurement methods
  • Take or gather data, analyze, and develop path forward to achieve end goal.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Project management experience, ability to develop schedules, work with multiple parties to bring project to completion.
  • Above average communication skills- Good written / oral communication skills to summarize complex issues and convey them to multiple parties.
  • Mechanical Aptitude- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and dimensions.
  • Strong foundation in Solid modeling and proficient with Catia / Solid Works.
  • 2–4-year engineering degree in related field or equivalent experience within industry.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • High skill set in designing of production fixtures and tooling through 3D modeling.
  • Automotive manufacturing background.
  • Previous experience working with equipment manufacturers and leading projects from onset to completion.
  • Basic understanding of coatings technologies within the manufacturing industry.
  • Good understanding of tooling and fixture fabrication methods.
