Manager, Production Planning, Scheduling, and CCR

Production Control Department 

 

Outline of duties:

Direct and lead a team of 4 Group Leaders and ~20 associates that operate with 3 distinct areas of responsibilities:

    • Production Scheduling
      • Create volume plans to achieve sales objectives – this includes making determinations of proper line speeds and overtime requirements.
      • Working with supplier management, materials, and production to adjust plans as needed due to capacity concerns and part availability issues.
      • Create orders and delivery plans for steel, aluminum, and resin and work with materials and supplier management to support orders and forecasts for all parts.
    • Production Planning
      • Authorize all hourly headcount requirements for the plant.
      • Establish staff hours per unit development targets, create annual SIA labor budgets, calculate and analyze staff hours per unit actual results and deviations from target/budget.
      • Assist shops with headcount reduction proposals utilizing various methods, including standard kaizen concepts and simulation software.
    • CCR
      • Respond in real time to adjust vehicle flow for parts disruption and facility downtime.
      • Ensure vehicle tracking data is accurate for all vehicles in the system.
      • Work with various areas to ensure setups are accurate for weekend and shutdown activity.
  • Oversee initial training, cross-training, and development of the team.
  • Make recommendations on how to adjust production in real-time situations – including the need to stop or cancel production.
  • Work directly with Subaru Corporation (SBR), Subaru of America (SOA), and Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) to understand future vehicle order requests.
  • Lead meetings with SIA Officers, SIA Senior Managers, and other management staff to discuss scheduling challenges and production options along with headcount status and staff hours per unit activity.
  • Set department goals to help support SIA’s overall objectives.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with Group Leaders to discuss upcoming assignments and follow-up with current projects and assignments.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, or related field.
  • Five years' experience in Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of management/supervisory experience in automotive manufacturing.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in engineering or technology field related to Manufacturing, or M.B.A.
  • Project management experience leading technically focused project and activities with demonstrated ability developing project scope, creating, and managing project schedule and budget and focus on achieving Cost, Quality and Delivery targets.
  • Ten years' experience in Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of management/supervisory experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Prior experience with vehicle scheduling and parts ordering.
