Summary:
The Manager, Manufacturing Engineering manages and leads activities to continuously improve manufacturing processes and products. This role is responsible for the development and optimization of production processes and equipment to achieve the safety, quality, output, and cost goals of the organization. This role applies engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes, products, work standards, and methods.
Outline of duties:
- Provides leadership to managers, group leaders, and Associates. Responsible for the development of Associates through coaching, training, and mentoring.
- Collaborates with other manufacturing managers and leadership to set and assess priorities across teams
- Manages and lead projects, technology development, and section planning
- Collaborates with other engineering departments, supporting and developing cooperation between departments
- Manages outside contractors and equipment manufacturers to develop best solutions to current issues
- Reviews and assesses cost effectiveness and feasibility of manufacturing processes
- Oversees continuous improvement by identifying new opportunities to improve processes, procedures, and increase efficiencies
- Develops and manages business process audits to ensure that process indicators are being properly tracked and maintained
- Establishes improvement plans to validate production processes to achieve department and plant targets for both new model and current production
- Manages cross-functional teams to recommend and countermeasure plant-wide issues
- Manages development and control of project master schedules and budget
- Lead and implement sustainability initiatives, driving the organization’s commitment to environmental stewardship and corporate social responsibility
- Develops and utilize reports to support data-driven decision making
- Drives Kaizen activity, applies statistical and other improvement tools
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, related field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
- Five years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration
- Previous management/supervisory experience in automotive manufacturing
- Project management experience leading technically focused projects
