Outline of duties:


  • Guide the SPP team to ensure suppliers and internal manufacturing sections maintain on-time delivery targets.
  • Work with other groups within SIA to support the overall service parts business objectives.
  • Support activities related to SIA's Service Parts Factory (SPF) including operation, component delivery, transportation, system operations, and packaging flow.
  • Support additional growth of In-House operations related to Metal Parts and Bumper production and packaging.
  • Track profitability of SIA's Service Parts Operation through accurate per piece cost models (direct material, labor, admin costs, etc.) and annual cost budgets.
  • Lead tracking annual results and aid management in developing methods to improve productivity.
  • Lead meetings with SIA Officers, SIA Senior Managers, Subaru of America (SOA), and suppliers to provide overall results, address issues, and share model development and readiness activities.
  • Support model launch activities by ensuring supplier readiness and that correct part information and packaging details are available.
  • Help identify and develop new processes and systems to streamline the overall service parts operations at suppliers as well as within SIA, SOA, and SBR.
  • Lead staff and coordinators with Production Control related Model Development responsibilities (SIA event schedules, vehicle spec creation, trial parts ordering).
  • Participate in weekly meetings to discuss upcoming assignments.
  • Collaborate with SBR and other PC sections regarding engineering changes, component orders, scheduling, and model development activities.
  • Work with SIA Information Systems and SOA to develop and improve different systems used to support the service parts business including those internal to SIA, SOA data, and transportation portals.
  • Support the group annual budgets related travel and other items to support the service parts business.
  • Make on-site supplier visits to evaluate condition and help improve service parts processes.
  • Provide service parts demand projections to suppliers and shops within SIA to regularly ensure capacities can be met.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Associate Degree in related field (or equivalent manufacturing experience).
  • Experience with automotive parts and assembly.
  • Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Prior experience with service/aftermarket parts and guiding supplier activities within manufacturing.
  • Ability to travel to Japan, SOA (New Jersey), and various suppliers both locally and across the US to support the overall service parts business.
    • Travel requirements are generally 1-2 visits per year to Japan and SOA and 2-4 visits per month for supplier visits. During major model launches, more travel may be required.
  • Ability to participate in early morning or evening teleconference meetings with Japan, generally 1 to 3 meetings per month.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • 10+ years in Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, or related industry.
  • 3+ years of management and/or supervisory experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Experience working with suppliers to evaluate and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Past Project Management experience leading technically focused project and activities with demonstrated ability developing project scope, creating, and managing project schedule and budget and focus on achieving Cost, Quality and Delivery targets.
