Position Overview:
The Group Leader, Quality Control New Model Development provides first-level leadership and establishes the day-to-day goals and objectives of the team. This role is responsible for teams’ achieving the Company’s objectives for safety, quality, cost, delivery, and team harmony. Through open communication, the Group Leader is responsible for the performance of their team and team members and is entrusted with the authority to secure compliance with their directives.
Outline of duties:
- Lead and train team of quality engineers to ensure continuous improvement by directing, prioritizing, and following up.
- Support the engineers in attaining full PPAP/ISR part development approval from our suppliers.
- Plan, implement, and manage group activities to achieve safety, quality, cost & productivity targets.
- Travel to Japan and other countries during major model launches (must be able to attain US passport)
- Assure communications within the QCNM section, QC department, other SIA sections, external suppliers, and SBR Japan).
- Develop and manage expense and labor budgets.
- Ensure compliance with all company rules, policies, procedures & takes appropriate corrective action.
- Ensure compliance with all SIA and Subaru policy and standards.
- Monitors & plans activities according to section goals & targets.
- Participate and lead multi department cross functional task teams.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, related field, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education
- Three years of relevant experience within processing manufacturing supplier related PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)
- Previous supervisory experience within a manufacturing facility.
- Previous project management experience. Proven & verifiable project experience, whereas leadership was applied to provide guidance, set expectations, and clarified responsibilities to team members to accomplish tasks and goals.
- Experience with part and tooling datum structures.
- Knowledge in basic statistics and process control. Read and understand blueprints, part and assembly drawings.
- Demonstrated experience using data to solve complex problems.
- Possess strong analytical troubleshooting skills.
- Proven experience with Plan Do Check Act method. (PDCA Cycle)
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and Power Point.
- Knowledge with precision measurement equipment such as CMM, FARO, plus hand tools such as calipers, scales, and taper gauges.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ automotive or automotive supplier manufacturing engineering experience.
- Experienced in one or more of the core supplier commodities / processes such as: stamping, welding, injection, electrical, casting, painting, powertrain, other.
- Previous experience with providing guidance and organization to an engineering group that is engaged in various engineering assignments and projects.
- Experience effectively delegating activities to ensure completion of complex projects and other work with deadlines.
- Previous experience within project management field
- Demonstrated experience using data to solve assembly problems
- ASQ, Six Sigma Black Belt or similar certifications
- Experience with the PDCA cycle
