Position Summary:
The Group Leader, Indirect Procurement provides first-level leadership and establishes the day-to-day goals and objectives for a team of procurement Associates. This role is responsible for supervising buyers and purchasing staff involved in the indirect procurement of equipment, supplies, and services for an organization at minimal cost, consistent with delivery requirements and quality specifications.
Outline of duties:
- Oversee and support activities of the group: sourcing, annual cost-reduction, supply chain risk mitigation, commercial issues resolution, indirect receiving activities.
- Demonstrates a positive role model for all Associates to promote each Team Member's success.
- Oversee and support activities of the group: sourcing, annual cost-reduction, supply chain risk mitigation, commercial issues resolution, indirect receiving activities.
- Oversee and support service contract negotiations and contract renewals by target dates.
- Collaborate with the supplier’s director / executive-level to support SIA goals, targets, initiatives, and SIA staff member activities.
- Participate in setting annual budgets for the Indirect Group, all Procurement department, and utilities (natural gas).
- Ensure compliance with all Company Policies, ISO procedures and take appropriate corrective actions, if necessary.
- Aligns leadership styles to that of SIA's Principles and values including integrity and strong core ethical values.
- Lead buyers in achieving annual cost reduction activities.
- Oversee annual supplier conference and awards ceremony.
- Travel with buyers to suppliers as necessary for sourcing activity, commercial issues, or cost reduction activity.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, related field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
- Three years of relevant experience
- Experience purchasing in an ERP/MRP software system such as SAP or SAP Ariba
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in relevant field
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities
- Previous experience within project management field.
