Outline of duties:
- Ensure the scope and quality of services delivered by the contract support functions (By-product, CKD, and WWT) meet the terms of the applicable service agreements.
- Facilitate cross-functional communication with SIA personnel as needed to ensure contract support functions can operate efficiently, effectively, and safely in their assigned workspaces.
- Monitor, identify, investigate, and communicate contractor staffing shortages, equipment down time, and other factors that have the potential to negatively affect production; assist contract support functions to mitigate the impact of such factors and facilitate corrective actions.
- Develop in-depth process knowledge of By-product, CKD, and WWT operations and document accordingly.
- Review and verify monthly invoicing for contract support functions; track planned vs. actual monthly spending and provide explanation of variances; assist management with the development of annual budgets.
- Evaluate requests from contract support functions for additional staffing and/ or equipment; summarize data, create project summary, and present to management to either support or negate requests.
- Request, review, approve, and track monthly consumables requests submitted by contract support functions.
- Field reported contract service issues and complaints (SIA, SBR, SLCO); communicate issues to contractor(s); ensure all issues are addressed appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Request, review, and track non-production related work schedules (weekends and shutdowns) for contract support functions.
- Facilitate completion of contract support function paperwork--vendor work applications, badge/ access requests, and parking requests.
- Co-develop and document efficient waste handling and export processes; assist contract support functions with time studies, route analyses, and capacity studies as needed to ensure progress towards continuous improvement goals.
- Develop and propose method(s) to automate current manual data collection processes to improve administrative efficiency.
- Review Packaging Specifications; communicate and review changes and/or additions with By-product contractor.
- Create and maintain standardized tracking spreadsheets, report formats, agendas, and documents relative to specific contract support functions.
- Review contractor SOPs and WIs for applicability, accuracy, and effectiveness; perform audits to ensure contractor is following SOPs/ Wis.
- Collaborate with contract support functions to drive process improvement activities.
- Audit waste and recycling processes and facilities to ensure responsible and compliant management of SIA waste.
- Assist with other Environmental section related activities, as needed (i.e., new associate training, inspections, audits, waste shipments, and parametric monitoring).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Engineering Technology
- 3-5 years of experience in Process Engineering or in a process development related role.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Basic knowledge of wastewater treatment, by-product, and CKD operations.
- General chemistry knowledge.
- Familiarity with spill response and spill clean-up operations.
- Experience in contractor management including staffing, invoicing, training, and process development oversight.
- Experience in budget development and reconciliation activities.
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with internal and external clients.
- Excellent communication skills; oral and written.
- Time management and organizational skills, attention to detail, self-motivation, safety-consciousness, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to identify, assess, prioritize, promote, and implement improvement projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of experience in process engineering or in a process development role.
- Completion of formal project management training course(s).
- Understanding of wastewater treatment operations, permitting, and compliance.
- Familiarity with export processes and products.
- HAZWOPER Hazardous Materials Technician trained.
- Familiarity with Tier II Reporting.
