Associate Development, Human Resources
Position Overview:
The Disability management Specialist is an experienced role within the SIA Human Resources Department responsible for development & execution of disability management strategies and time off programs, FMLA, USERRA, ADAAA, PWFA and Worker’s Compensation benefits to support the Human Resource function throughout the organization.
Outline of duties:
- Communicates and administers the organization’s absence and disability accommodation programs
- Analyzes trends in absence data entered various recordkeeping systems and maintained by third party administrators to measure effectiveness of the absence management system
- Develops, generates, and presents reports on a regular basis to analyze leave data and trends
- Develops responses to absence, disability and standalone accommodation requests aligned with HR strategies and regulatory requirements
- Conduct investigations into absence and disability requests and recommend action plans
- Performs internal audits to ensure consistency and compliance with FMLA, ADAAA, PWFA and Worker’s Compensation
- Partners with in-house legal counsel for guidance on complex items such as the interactive process and ADA/PWFA accommodations
- Consults with other HR functions to review, coordinate, and develop benefits, staffing and policy changes related to the absence management system
- Maintains knowledge of HR industry best practices and current trends and participates in continuous professional development opportunities
- All other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Psychology, Human Services or related field plus at least 2 years relevant experience
- Strong presentation, oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills to effectively interact with associates, management, internal and external business contacts; Ability to communicate with others in sensitive situations using appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to reduce tension or conflict and maintain professionalism.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, problem-solving ability, and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures and the ability to identify, analyze and resolve business issues through solution-oriented projects.
- Ability to work independently, set priorities, handle multiple tasks with concentration speed and accuracy to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in a high pace environment while processing confidential and sensitive information appropriately and accurately.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Knowledge of absence management related concepts and practices such as FMLA, ADAAA and Worker’s Compensation.
- Intermediate MS Office Skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree preferred plus 5 years relevant experience
- Relevant certification: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP
