Company Overview: Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. or “SIA”, located in Lafayette, Indiana, is the only Subaru vehicle manufacturing facility outside of Japan. SIA is a 4.4 million square foot automotive OEM – meaning our manufacturing process begins with coils of steel and ends with the high-quality vehicles you see out on the roads. We employ 6500+ Associates, both production and administrative, all under one roof.

SIA is the safest automotive manufacturing plant in the United States and is also a staple in the community due to its numerous fundraising activities held onsite, donations to local charities and plentiful volunteer opportunities. SIA is a frontrunner in environmental conservation being the first Zero-Landfill automotive manufacturing plant and the first to have its campus designated a backyard wildlife reservation. SIA has grown tremendously since its 1989 beginnings and continues to be an example of success within the automotive industry.

Position Overview: The SIA Production Group Leader is SIA’s first level of supervisory authority; they will be their team’s coach and is responsible for teams’ achieving the Company’s objectives for safety, quality, cost, delivery, and team harmony. Through open communication, the Group Leader is responsible for the performance of their team and team members and is entrusted with the authority to secure compliance with their directives.

Outline of duties:

• Demonstrates a positive role model for all Associates to promote each Team Member’s success.
• Maintains familiarity with all job duties and skill levels of all Team Members and monitors events that may affect Team performance.
• Responsible for the assessment and development of each Team Member’s performance.
• Understands, teaches, and promotes the SIA Production System to all Team leaders and Team Members.
• Ensure compliance with all Company Policies and procedures and take appropriate corrective actions, if necessary.
• Aligns leadership styles to that of SIA’s Principles and values.
• Plans, monitors, and leads activities according to Plant and Section goals related to Safety, Quality, and productivity.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Group Leader’s Manager(s).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Certificate/Associate Degree in Organizational Leadership or related field or willingness to enter a contract to obtain a certificate in OL (Minimum 25+ Credits) within two (2) years of start date, assigned by SIA.
• 4+ years Supervisory/Leadership experience.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Must be willing to give and take direction.
• Demonstrated problem solving ability.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and hold self and others accountable.
• Demonstrate behaviors which require initiative and self-motivation.
• Ability to treat others with Dignity and Respect.
• Ability to give presentation to officers of the company.
• Ability to lead Kaizen/Continuous improvement activities.
• Must be willing to work any shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd).

Preferred Qualifications:

• BS Degree in Organizational Leadership or related field.
• Experience in an Automotive Manufacturing Environment.
