Outline of Duties:

This position is responsible for mitigating cost and risk to the business through contracting and sourcing of services and equipment within the facility. A high degree of strategic sourcing and thinking is required to contract a service that aligns with SIA’s current and future business objectives. The contract manager will lead sourcing projects in a project manager capacity. This position will require the ability to understand each supplier’s business as well as a high degree of understanding SIA’s business. Advanced level of negotiation and data analysis required to secure an agreement that best fits the company’s needs and objectives while minimizing risk and cost to the organization. This individual is expected to work and negotiate with various levels of management both internally and externally. This position directly provides sourcing recommendations and data to assist with decision making. In addition, an ongoing effort to manage the supplier accounts, support ongoing commercial issues, eliminate supply chain risks, and continually look for cost reduction is required. This position does not have any direct reports.

 

The essential functions described below are intended to broadly define the expectations of the role.

  1. Leads contract or category sourcing and reduction activity (strategy, analysis, negotiation, target, and schedule achievement)
  2. Daily activity and support for supplier quality, cost, delivery, design, and development.
  3. Collaborates closely with suppliers and departments to resolve issues critical to the supply chain.
  4. Receives and analyzes information (Detailed cost evaluations, zero based cost estimation, ability to qualify supplier’s capabilities, resolution of commercial issues, risk mitigation, and strategic sourcing).
  5. Reports and gains approval for activities to upper management up to and include Officer level (Sourcing, Contracts, Cost Reduction, Projects)
  6. Conduct internal and external checks to ensure contract compliance.
  7. Qualifying suppliers for business at SIA.
  8. Understanding of legal terminology and advanced contract concepts
  9. Direct parts procurement as needed.
  10. Participate and report results in accordance with SIA annual cost reduction program.
  11. Achieve cost reductions targets set by corporate planning or procurement department.
  12. Natural Gas contracting including hedging and layer buys as needed.
  13. All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field of study plus 1-3 years relevant experience

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 3+ years relevant experience contracting in a contract sourcing environment.
  • Procurement certifications such as CSCM (Certified Supply Chain Manager) or CPOS (Certified Procurement Operations Specialist)
  • Basic knowledge of Ariba procurement software or contracting database software
  • Familiarity with Japanese culture and open office environment

 

Work Hours:

This position generally works administrative hours (8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday – Friday) and is subject to occasional overtime to meet demands of operations. This position may allow for some partial remote/hybrid work opportunities.

 

Travel:

This position will require a light to moderate level of travel to conduct annual visits and supplier qualifications.
