Position Overview: The SIA Compliance Specialist is responsible for supporting implementation of the company’s regulatory and corporate compliance program. The Compliance Section Specialist is also responsible for performing oversight of compliance activities, including data security, finance, human resources, procurement, and SIA’s ISO 9001, 14001, 50001 and 45001 management systems; and other duties as identified by the Compliance Section Manager.

 

Outline of duties:

 

  • Draft documentation needed to support implementation of the centralized compliance program.
  • Identify existing internal control systems designed for adherence to laws and regulations, as well as internal company policies and procedures.
  • Support the Compliance Section Manager to develop company risk mitigation and control strategies in areas including data security, human resources, finance, and procurement.
  • Review and evaluate company procedures and reports to identify hidden risks and common issues across multiple departments.
  • Perform compliance spot checks as directed related to adherence with company policies and procedures.
  • Support and monitor company record retention policy.
  • Develop training sessions on compliance issues with both internal and external (vendor) parties.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities to strengthen and mature existing processes.
  • Keep informed regarding pending industry changes, trends, and best practices and assess the potential impact of changes on organizational processes.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Communications, Business Administration, or related field.
  • MS Office, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of corporate compliance programs.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving, including knowledge of problem-solving techniques (e.g., PDCA, fishbone, SWOT, etc.) and excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in writing, speaking, and presenting.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience conducting internal audits and performing risk assessments.
