Summary
The SIA Human Resources Generalist is a professional role with a fundamental knowledge in a broad array of topics related to employee relations, compensation, hiring, onboarding, and performance management for the organization’s Administrative workforce. The incumbent will play an active role in creating and maintaining a Human Resources “best practices” culture for the organization while advocating for the interests of both SIA and our Associates.
Essential Functions
- Engage in recruiting activity throughout the plant by working with hiring managers to create requisitions, interview, select and onboard highly qualified candidates.
- Engage in employee relations function and responds to HR related inquires for all salaried and administrative Associates, including coordinating investigations and coaching associates through counseling processes.
- Responsible for proficiency with and interpretation of all HR policies that relate to the salaried and administrative workforce.
- Contributes to the development and maintenance of a human resources information system (HRIS) that meets top management information needs.
- Support the delivery of workforce data to relevant parties regarding human resources projects, policies and/or practices.
- Coordinates training for management on topics such as interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, career development, safety, and policies.
- Create and distribute internal communications regarding the HR function as needed.
- Administer new Associate orientation, monitor the onboarding process for effectiveness and recommend improvements for implementation.
- Monitor employee morale and company culture and provide meaningful feedback to organizational leadership regarding methods for improvement.
- Collaborate with the HR team to develop effective recruitment strategies.
- Process/Investigate complaints regarding sexual harassment, discrimination, or other instances of workplace harassment and assist in any necessary investigations and disciplinary actions.
- Maintain Associate personnel records and organization job descriptions.
- Conduct investigations and recommend corrective action where necessary.
- Actively participates in section and departmental staff meetings.
- Maintains knowledge of HR industry best practices and current trends and participates in continuous professional development opportunities.
- Participates in the preparation of the Associate Development budget and other activities related to section budget control responsibilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
- 3-5 years experience in Human Resources or related field.
- Knowledge of principles (including governing laws and regulations) and procedures for performance management, employee relations, recruiting, interviewing, selection, training, retention and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
- MS Office, including advanced Excel skills.
Preferred Education, Experience and Qualifications
- 5 or more years in Human Resources or related field.
- PHR and/or SPHR Certification.
- SAP, SuccessFactors and Kronos experience.
