Outline of duties:

  • Confirm ECS (Engineering Change Sheets) and related engineering drawings applicable to New Model development and understand the impact to the part and manufacturing process at both the part supplier and at SIA.
  • Manage multiple suppliers and parts to ensure the supplier is working towards completion of the requirements for ISR (or Production part approval)
  • Must effectively communicate and work with all levels of work force both at the suppliers and at Subaru
  • Understand requirements from regulation documentation and ensure compliance to those requirements
  • Be able to analyze supplier documents for accuracy and compliance to Subaru standards
  • Travel both domestically and internationally to supplier’s facilities to confirm process capabilities, lead root cause investigation, and support counter measure confirmation activities.
  • Inspect and measure samples from production part approvals to ensure requirements of the drawing and testing spec are being achieved
  • Analyze drawing and digital assembly data to look for design errors or stack ups and work with Subaru Japan and Quality to implement solutions
  • Lead, organize, and participate in retrofit activities on vehicle and raw parts during pre-production builds
  • Other Tasks as assigned by NMOP (New Model Operation Plan), the Group Leader and / or Manager

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering or related field
  • Experience in technical field or equivalent Engineering experience. 
  • Experience with part and datum structures.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    
  • Knowledge in basic statistics and process control. Read and understand part and assembly drawings. 
  • Demonstrated past experience using data to solve assembly problems. 
  • Possess strong analytical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proven experience with Plan Do Check Act method. (PDCA Cycle)
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with Automotive functional systems, Automotive Electrical systems, Automotive testing equipment.
  • Ability to work & lead in a cross-functional team.
  • Candidates must be self-managed, well organized, and highly motivated.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering or related field along with 3 + years' experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis and formulate a plan based on the analysis.
  • Experience with electronic manufacturing systems such as solder paste application, pick and place machines, reflow soldering, automated optical inspection equipment, wave solder, and hand rework standards
  • IC (integrated circuit) experience and knowledge (such as silicon wafer growth process, silicon doping, wafer cut, wire bonding, packaging and testing).
  • Understand industry standards for identification of counterfeit components and distributors.
  • Experience implementing process improvements and/or part and structure changes.
  • Previous or equivalent automotive supplier experience 
  • Knowledge of Completed Vehicle Function and Testing Systems with ability to tear down and troubleshoot complex function issues.
  • Automotive testing systems, electrical systems, vehicle functional systems, and assembly experiences
  • Programming Experience, PLC Systems, and CAN Communication Systems knowledge.
