Aftermarket Supply Chain Professional – Production Control

Overview:  Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. (SIA) was America’s first zero-landfill automotive manufacturing facility and is the safest vehicle manufacturer in the country. SIA is a 4.4 million square foot facility with 6400+ Associates and is growing. The automotive manufacturing plant houses both production and administration functions. The SIA facility is a fully-integrated automotive OEM, meaning that our manufacturing process begins with sheet metal cut from steel coils and ends with a high-quality vehicle – all under one roof. Subaru’s customer base has proven to be highly resilient during economic downturns, and along with brand loyalty has led to our plant’s continuous and aggressive growth since its 1989 inception.

Production Control (PC) Department Description:

The Production Control (PC) Department leads the way for daily and long-term production planning and scheduling at SIA.  The three distinct sections of PC (Project Planning Management, Production Scheduling, and Parts Management) offer a unique opportunity to participate in planning and management of vehicle product lines from early concept to end of lifecycle phases.

The Production Control Team works closely with Product Development leaders in Japan to integrate engineering changes, new vehicle designs, and updated specifications into SIA’s manufacturing and supply chain processes.  After a new model is introduced, the Production Scheduling group develops advanced, three-year production plans all the way down to daily / hourly production flow management by the Central Command Room (CCR) function.  Finally, the Parts Management group coordinates engineering changes to parts during mass production of a vehicle line and then manages aftermarket parts up to 15 years after the vehicle is out of production.
